I love adjusting my illustration and design style to different projects to achieve the best possible results.
I like when there are tangible goals for a project and adapting all I do towards those goals. I love to work with time schedules and defined requirements in a project. When there are no requirements defined yet, I like to make suggestions and sticking to whatever we agree upon. I love to deliver what you expect - or something even better.
Creative work is to be taken serious like any other kind of work. I love to be successful, that's why I love to have goals and plans with creative projects just like with any other project.
In my opinion, creative work is to be considered "good", when it achieves it's goals.
Art can be created for a variety of reasons: To connect to you target audience, trigger certain emotions in them, explain a complex subject, deliver a message, illustrate, sell, or simply decorate? Depending on the goals there are different ways to achieve them:
For the childrens' book project, it might be a good idea to create cute scribbles from different angles, do color studies and communicate closely to the editor or the author about what the outcome should be. And to keep in the back of your mind, that not the kid is the one who will actually BUY the book - but rather the grandma or grandpa 😉
For another project, it might be a good way to go to test multiple different visuals via A/B testing for Facebook ads - and look at the conversion rate. Sometimes we might be surprised and there's things that you just cannot plan for.
There are different goals for illustrations, designs, graphics and art - and I love to adjust my way of working and my art style to reach those goals. I just think it's fun to do that, because I love to serve a purpose in the best way I possibly can! 🙂
